Demonstration Event

impact assessment

Demonstration events were launched in 2005 at Corrour with the aim of promoting WDBP across Scotland. The 10th BPDE was held at Balmoral in October 2011. In the six years, over 2000 attendees have enjoyed a series of activities directly relevant to delivering practical guidance on deer management. In November 2012 a BPDE was held for urban deer managers at Hamilton Park Racecourse, supported by Linda Fabiani, MSP, with an opening address sent by Paul Wheelhouse, MSP, Minister for Environment and Climate Change. These BPDEs have been financed from public funds. WDBP is now entering a new era where future demonstration events will be smaller, more bespoke and predominantly delivered by the private and voluntary sectors, supported by SNH.
SNH will continue to deliver the BPDE for Scottish Colleges, with Creag Meagaidh NNR proving an ideal location in 2012, to be repeated in 2013.
